Voorzitter Chandrikapersad Santokhi van de Vooruitstrevende Hervormingspartij (VHP), heeft Frankrijk, mede namens de partij en de totale Surinaamse gemeenschap, gecondoleerd met het bloedbad dat gisteren is aangericht in Parijs (Frankrijk). Santokhi heeft zijn condoleanceboodschap gestuurd in een brief aan de Franse ambassadeur Michel Prom in Paramaribo. In het schrijven betuigt hij ook zijn oprechte medeleven met het weekblad ‘Charlie Hebdo’. Gisteren zijn bij een terroristische aanslag op de redactie van het tijdschrift twaalf doden gevallen.

Excellency,

On behalf of the “Vooruitstrevende Hervormings-Partij” (VHP) and the people of the Rep. of Suriname I express my most sincere condolences in connection with the heinous terroristic act against the weekly newspaper “Charlie Hebdo”.
The VHP and the people of the Rep. of Suriname will always behold the freedom of expression as the cornerstone of a democratic and free society.
The thoughts of all Surinamers are with the French people, in particular with the families of those who have lost their lives in this barbaric act. We pray that their souls may rest in peace.
