Volgens Hellings zijn ze momenteel on speaking terms en probeert de bond het onderste uit de kan te halen voor de leden. Medio mei werd Hellings door de directie van de EBS ontslagen, omdat hij bepaalde uitlatingen had gedaan op sociale media, die onacceptabel waren voor de directie. Hierna ging het personeel in staking, waarna de directie de bond naar de groene tafel sleepte. De rechter besloot toen dat het personeel meteen de werkzaamheden moest hervatten. Hellings vocht zijn ontslag aan en tekende bezwaar aan bij arbeidsinspectie, die de afgelopen week heeft meegedeeld, dat het ontslag van Hellings niet via de juiste procedures heeft plaatsgevonden. De directie weigerde om het ontslag van Hellings terug te draaien en stelde hem op non-actief, waarbij de directie zich had richtte tot de Ontslagcommissie. Nadat de situatie uit de hand dreigde te lopen, greep vicepresident Ronnie Brunswijk in.
