Guyana investeert in agrarische sector:<\/h2>\n

Het buurland Guyana investeert momenteel enorm in zijn agrarische sector. De Guyanese regering zal in de komende periode duizenden hectares grond beschikbaar stellen om onder andere meer ma\u00efs en soja te verbouwen.<\/p>\n

Volgens de Guyanese minister van Landbouw Zulfikar Mustapha, is er een toenemende belangstelling voor Guyana zijn ma\u00efs- en soja-project, vandaar dat de regering duizenden hectaren land beschikbaar stelt om een grotere teelt mogelijk te maken.\u00a0 Minister Mustapha zei dat veel boeren belangstelling hebben voor het project. \u2018\u2019We hebben boeren uit Corantijn, die zich binnenkort willen bezighouden met ma\u00efs en soja. Zij krijgen bijna 12.000 hectare\u2018\u2019, zei Mustapha gisteren. De ma\u00efs- en sojateelt maakt volgens Mustapha, deel uit van Guyana’s plannen om meer voedsel te verbouwen, zodat er niet alleen minder ge\u00efmporteerd hoeft te worden, maar ook ge\u00ebxporteerd kan worden. Volgens het ministerie van Financi\u00ebn verbouwde Guyana in de eerste helft van 2023 ruim 3000 hectare sojabonen en ruim 1200 hectare ma\u00efs. Verwacht wordt dat Guyana in 2025 zelfvoorzienend zal worden in deze subsector en in staat zal zijn om naar het Caribisch gebied te exporteren. Maar de belangstelling gaat niet alleen uit naar dit project. Mustapha zei, dat andere investeerders in heel Guyana graag meer hoogwaardige gewassen willen verbouwen, of het nu broccoli of wortelen zijn. Er is ook veel interesse voor de meer traditionele sectoren zoals rijst, suiker, marktgewassen en vee. In 2024 zal volgens minister Mustapha, nog eens 20.000 hectare land ontgonnen worden voor de teelt. De nieuwe all-weather weg van boer naar markt in Corantijn, Berbice en de weg die Linden met Lethem zal verbinden, zullen naar verwachting ook de regering helpen nieuwe gronden voor landbouwdoeleinden te ontwikkelen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
